BIOLOGY CATEGORY

The Biology category of the NEO Science Olympiad focuses on the study of life and living organisms. It covers a range of areas within the life sciences, including genetics, ecology, physiology, botany and zoology.

Questions often relate to real-world biological phenomena, ecological issues, medical applications and environmental challenges, highlighting the practical applications of biology.

The category supports students in developing a strong foundation in biological principles and encourages further study in biology, medicine, ecology, genetics and related fields.

The questions will be the same for all grades within each group listed below. However, evaluations will be conducted separately for each grade, and the results will be announced accordingly.
• Grades 9-10
• Grade 11

The Qualification Exam in the Biology category is offered on two designated exam dates. Participants may take the exam on either or both dates, with each attempt conducted independently. The Qualification Exam determines participants’ eligibility for the Grand Finals in Orlando and New York, USA.

Students who achieve at least 40 points in the Qualification Round advance to the Grand Final in Orlando and New York, USA.

The top 3 students in grades 9 to 11 will qualify for exclusive discounts on participation in the Grand Final Program in Orlando and New York, USA, provided they meet all other participation requirements.
